Born in Trieste (IT) in 1986, Gabriele showed an inclination for percussion instruments at a very early age. At the age of 7 he began to study the drums and soon pursued classical percussion training at the Conservatorium in his home town.
Here he graduated in 2008 with full marks under Professor Fabiàn Pèrez Tedesco, and in 2012, after an exchange period at the Royal Conservatory in Antwerp (BE), he earned the Master’s degree cum laude under the tutelage of Professor Cinzia Honnorat. Immediately thereafter he decided to pursue his second masters degree abroad in the Netherlands.
In 2014, Gabriele obtained his Master of Music in orchestral and contemporary percussion at the Codarts Hogeschool voor de Kunst in Rotterdam with some of the most celebrated percussionists at an international level, including the brothers Chris and Hans Leenders, Murk Jiskoot and Tatiana Koleva.
He now lives and works in his home town where he teaches at the music school of the “Civica Orchestra di Fiati Giuseppe Verdi Città di Trieste” and regularly performs with his Popocatepetl Percussion Duo and with professional orchestras such as the Mitteleuropa Orchestra FVG and the Orchestra Fondazione Teatro Lirico “Giuseppe Verdi”.
Among others, he has performed with the World Percussion Group turing ten Universities around the USA, the contemporary music ensemble Asko׀Schӧnberg and with orchestras such as the Netherlands Youth Orchestra, the Slovenija Symphony Orchestra, the Nederlands Philarmonic Orkest and the Nederlands Kamerorkest.
He has been given several Clinics and Masterclasses in orchestral, solo and ensemble repertoire in Italian Conservatories and American Universities.
He has recorded for Channel Classics Records, Anteun Hoesen Recordings, the Dutch radio stations “Max” and NPO4, the Dutch television channel NPO, and the Radiotelevizija Slovenija (RTV).
